Instagram Profile

Overview

Fetch an Instagram account's public profile by handle or by its numeric account id: name, bio, website, public business contact fields (email and phone), location of the business address, account type, verification and privacy flags, and follower, following and media counts.

Fresh lookups are cached for 30 days and shared across the platform — a second request for the same profile within that window answers instantly and is charged the lower cached price. Control the maximum age with max_age_days; 0 always fetches fresh.

When to use

Enrich a list of Instagram handles with follower counts, bios and public contact data.
Find the real website and a reachable email or phone of a creator or business account.
Qualify leads by account type, category and engagement size.

[!NOTE] When no account exists for the handle — or the account cannot be read — the run completes successfully with found: false and is not charged. Genuine errors of the data service (auth, rate limit, 5xx) still fail the run and are refunded.

Private accounts return only their basic public fields. Contact fields (public_email, public_phone, city, street, zip) are present only when the account shows them publicly — typical for business and creator accounts. Profile picture URLs are not returned: they are signed and expire.

This enrichment costs 2 credits on a live lookup. Profiles served from the cache (at most 30 days old, or the max_age_days you set) are charged the lower cached tier. Runs ending with found: false are free.

Errors

Error	When it happens	What to do
`invalid_input`	`username` is missing or not a valid handle or profile URL, or `user_id` is not numeric.	Pass a handle like `natgeo` or a profile URL like `https://www.instagram.com/natgeo/`.
`not_found`	The lookup completed but no account exists for the handle or id.	No action — the run costs nothing.
`rate_limited`	The data service throttled the request.	Retry with backoff.
`provider_error`	The data service returned an unexpected error.	Retry; if persistent, contact support.
`503 endpoint_unavailable`	The endpoint is currently not configured or temporarily disabled. Nothing is reserved or charged.	Retry later; if persistent, contact support.
